Better Life Outreach Ministries was established in September of 1996 by Pastor
Keith Marvel of Family Life Church in Newport. Pastor Marvel was inspired to start
a ministry that would help young people find a better life through Jesus Christ. He
saw a need for a skateboard and roller blade park and also realized that many of
these young people had no religious background. The first half of the park was
opened in December of 1997. Since then, the park has continued to be on the
cutting edge of athletics and entertainment for young people.
The park is well-managed with staff present at all times and is fenced in for
additional safety. Over the past 10 years over 7,000 young people have used the
park. Many contests and outreach promotions have taken place not to mention a
great deal of radical skating! There have been many young lives touched through
the many presentations and Bible studies that have taken place since the park's
inception. Pastor Marvel and the staff of the Newport Skate & BMX Park have
prided themselves on making available to anyone the good news of Jesus Christ
without forcing it upon anyone.
Better Life Outreach Ministries has also operated homework help stations and
hopes to someday establish a drug and alcohol program for young people. Better
Life Outreach Ministries appreciates all of the businesses, foundations and
individuals who have helped to make their mission a success.
In June 2003, BMX bikes were added to the venue, once again, setting the pace for
a new trend in allowing these young athletes to use their talents. We trust that you
